Rev. David Hutchinson was installed as minister of the First Church of Houlton, Unitarian Universalist on June 3, 2001. Prior to the installation, David served as the associate minister of First Church.

David was born in Houlton and graduated from Houlton High School with the Class of 1978. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in theology from Tennessee Temple University and a Masters of Religious Education degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts. David also served as the associate minister of the New Monmouth Baptist Church in New Monmouth, New Jersey for one year.

Upon returning to the Houlton area in 1985, Reverend Hutchinson has worked as a small business owner, optician, and filled local pulpits.

"I returned to this area to gain a sense of connectedness to place. In such a transient culture as ours, to stay in one place for more than twenty years is a refreshingly new concept!! Houlton is a town rich in historic tradition and present-day culture. I enjoy backcountry skiing, canoeing, fly-fishing and writing. These traditional leisures flourish in an environment such as the north woods of New England. It is an honor to serve as the minister of this Unitarian Society. I hope this place can provide a vital spiritual environment for each of us to explore the highest ideals of our human experience. Peace to each of you."
