We searched for the explanation for Ball Lightning for many years.  The search led to the discovery of a new plasma toroid, or spheromak, that often occurs in nature during a lightning event. We call it the Electron Spiral Toroid Spheromak (ESTS).  This is a new discovery, and is explained in more detail on our Technology page.  

Why this might be important is that it could potentially lead to a clean energy slution to replace fossil fuels.  A lot of work remains to demonstrate this, but this is what we are working toward. 

The ESTS itself is a plasma toroid that is self-organized and self-stable with no magnetic fields to contain it.  Why this is important is that all spheromaks reported to date dissipate in microseconds, while the ESTS has been observed to endure with no confining magnetic field for hundreds of milliseconds, and theoretically will remain stable for many seconds. 

Seward of EPS, Inc. discovered the ESTS as a result of a decade’s long search for a ball lightning explanation.  Seward has developed a “secret formula” to produce the ESTS.
